We Are SC: This Is How We Do It

Alright. Enough of this “a win is a win” stuff with our eyes on the polls and pending BCS ranking. It’s starting to feel like our own self-fulfilling prophecy.

Pete Carroll has said it before, and he said it again yesterday at his weekly press conference:
The polls mean nothing to me. They don't mean anything to anybody until the end. Then they're meaningful. I didn't even know if we dropped or what we did. …

It doesn't factor in. It doesn't change what we're doing or how we operate. It's just a recording of what's up this week coming up and I think it's much more a media thing than it is for us.

We've never bothered one way or another. It does mean something at the very end though and when that comes time, we'll take a look and see where we are.

You can't be any better than 5-0 so we're doing fine with that. There's a lot of work to be done. … I'm disappointed in certain aspects of production, really, in particular about defense and getting the football. ... I would say exactly the same thing if we had 10 turnovers the last two weeks …

Over the years, I know that it goes and comes and usually there'll be a bunch [of turnovers] coming up here pretty quick. We're not changing our approach to it or our attitude to our players, or our manner.
I love it. This, more than anything else that anyone can write or count, is the assurance we neeed to let us breathe. This is how we do it.
